Hiking in La Palma | The best trails in La Palma

As the name itself indicates, the beautiful island offers us the possibility of exploring it and discovering all its most beautiful landscapes. That is why we recommend the following trails:

Route of the Nacientes de Marcos y Cordero and Los Tilos waterfall (By this time closed, because the possibility of stonefall; and it isn’t knowed when they will reopen them)

This is one of the most beautiful routes on this island, since you will go through tunnels, humid forests and waterfalls.

There are two possibilities: take the route to the springs or to the descent of Los Tilos. The first lasts 3 hours, it begins and ends at Casa del Monte, where you can go in your 4×4 vehicle or taxi.

The second is a 4-6 hour route, with a negative elevation gain of 1000 meters. You should bring a flashlight and a raincoat to be able to see in the tunnels and not get wet.

La cumbrecita.

One of the most essential routes on the beautiful island. It is a path full of impressive viewpoints starting and ending at the Cumbrecita viewpoint. It is a moderate route for all levels of physical fitness, lasting 1 hour and half at a steady pace.

The beginning of the route begins at the Cumbrecita viewpoint where you can park your car and where you can pick it up because it is a circular route. Do not forget to book your parking lot for the during of your tour, on the website of the Spanish National parks.

Tajogaite volcano.

On one hand, you can find a mini excursion to the viewpoint “mirador de Tacande”, accessible for everyone.

And on the other hand, a volcanic route to surprise, which now a days is only able to do with an official guide. On this surprising route you can walk through ash fields, lava fields and until you can see the Tajogaite volcano. It is an easy/middle level and lasts approximately 2h30. This is a circular route where you can park your car in the parking lot at the meeting point and pick it up there.

Cubo de la galga.

On this hiking path, you will find different routes with a variation difficulty, the easiest one, starts with an asphalted path, and goes then one a forest way until an aqueduct, and then back again. And from there, y can start the medium o strongest route, where you need high mountains experience.

All these routes guide you through beautiful landscapes, which let fly your imaginations like in a wonderful dream.

It is a circular route of medium difficulty lasting 2 hours 40 minutes, the route with a high level of difficulty can have a duration of 5 hours, all of them can be accessed by car and picked up in the same parking lot or from the bus stop of cubo de la galga.

La Zarza and La Zarzita

It is a very beautiful route in which you can observe different landscapes such as La Catedral, which is a large, impressive erosion crater full of vegetation and rocks. After that you can go through a house full of flowers, some fairy-tale trails, the La Zarza cultural park and finally you will end up in La Zarzita, where there are some rock engravings or petroglyphs. This route is moderate, so good physical fitness is needed for its 2-and-a-half-hour duration, and it is very easy to access by public transport.
